Born Into Nightmares

Character study of the twin brothers, Ben and Alec, looking at life through their eyes and the nightmares that continue to haunt them as they struggle to find a place in the world as escaped transgenics. Ben, overwhelmed and still a child inside, falls deep into psychosis and goes on a murderous rampage driven by imaginative stories from his youth. Alec, with no home to return to, finds himself trying to adapt to life on the streets, playing the smartass bad boy to cover up the darkness left inside from years of brainwashing, torture and enslavement. I'm not into this show as a whole but Ben and Alec's stories were so tragic and fascinating. What really struck me is how convincingly Jensen played each of them, making you truly believe that they were completely different people. Created February 20th, 2009

Raising Hell

An overview/group character study of the X5 transgenics, Max, Brin, Tinga, Krit, Syl, Ben, Jace and "big brother" Zack. Genetically engineered by a secret government lab, designed to be ruthless slave soldiers and assassins, this group of ten year old part-human-part-feline prototypes used their training to turn on their captors and escape to the outside world. No matter how far they run, they are never able to get away from what they really are, haunted by memories of the torture and brainwashing of their traumatic childhoods. But however damaged Manticore left them, the one thing they could never take away was their love for and devotion to each other, even years later as they struggle hold to onto their freedom and stay one step ahead of their tormentor, Colonel Lydecker, who remains determined to bring them home.
