FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Why are your HQ versions password protected and how can I download them?

A. Just contact me to gain access. The reason for it is a long story involving trolls and video thieves, but the resized download options are available to everyone. They're the same high quality, just 75 percent of the original video dimensions and significantly smaller in file size.

Q. I can't find the particular version of the music you used in one of your videos; any suggestions?

A. I do intensive editing on many of the music tracks I use. For music videos, I normally use the track as-is but have been known to cut it down and re-edit certain songs here and there. For trailers, I almost always use my own edits of the music, so you won't find those anywhere. Just grab the originals and do your own thing with the music.

Q. What programs do you use for editing?

A. For the sake of convenience due to the way I rip and convert my files, Sony Vegas was and continues to be used for all of my hobby vids except for the original five Roswell music videos, which were done on Adobe Premiere.

Q. Where do you get the source material for editing?

A. I buy the DVDs, rip the films or individual episodes with DVD Shrink as uncompressed VOB files, then use Auto Gordian Knot to convert each file to an xvid avi with CBR sound, quality set at roughly 350 mb per every 40 minutes of footage.

Q. Do you take requests?

A. Nope, but if you've got a song or concept to recommend, please feel free to mention it and if it hits my creative sparks, I'll certainly keep it in mind.

Q. When will you be doing such-and-such video from your upcoming list?

A. I honestly don't know. I do them as time allows and just pick whichever one inspires me right at that moment. I normally do wait for shows (or at least full seasons) to be finished and released on DVD though. The best way to know what's going on is to be on my mailing list...that way you'll be the first to know when I do end up making a particular video that you're looking forward to.

Q. Will you ever do sweet shippy/romantic, alternate universe or comedy/parody videos?

A. I've done a couple but they are and definitely will remain few and far in between. In general, I just have no interest in making those types of vids. I like to capture the shows as a whole, the characters and their journeys, not their cute relationships (which tend to bore me) or funny, silly moments. Once in a while, I will deviate and do those genres but I generally prefer the darker stuff.

Q. How long does it take you to make these videos?

A. Most are done in one or two nights. I get an idea and it comes together fast. The larger scale ones might take up to 5 days or a week. Tragic Heroes took three weeks. But with most of them, the first cut is done in a few hours and the final version is usually finished the following night. Trailers require an extra night for sound balancing.

Q. Why don't you give content or spoiler warnings in your video descriptions?

A. If the description says it's an overview of such and such season, series or character, you should expect spoilers for those particular storylines. As for content warnings, I do usually briefly mention excessive sex or violence.
